Chiropractor
Heather Flatgard D.C., M.S.
In addition to running her clinic, she completed her Sports Chiropractic Fellowship at the Human Performance Center at Northwestern Health Sciences University. She provided sports nutrition counseling to many sports teams across Minnesota, including being the team doctor for Team USA Tug Of War. In addition to her sports nutrition fellowship, she provided care to many pro and amateur athletes and mentored several up-and-coming chiropractors!
In addition to running her clinic, she helps run the Human Performance Center at Northwestern Health Sciences University. She provides sports nutrition counseling to many sports teams across Minnesota, including being the team doctor for Team USA Tug Of War, and helps teach and mentor several future chiropractors in active care treatment!
Dr. Flatgard is also a member of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association, Minnesota Chiropractic Association Sports Council, and the American Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Flatgard is your go-to evidence-based chiropractor in St. Louis Park, specializing in soft tissue treatment & nutrition supplementation. She is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician®, and full-body certified ART (Active Release Technology) & Graston Technique provider.

Education - Chiropractic Schooling
After serving eight years as a communications specialist in the Army National Guard, she earned her B.S. in Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Flatgard went on to earn her Doctorate in Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University. She started Excelsior & Grand Chiropractic in June 2018 while completing a Sports & Nutrition Chiropractic fellowship at Northwestern Health Sciences University. During her fellowship, Dr. Flatgard also earned her M.S. in Exercise Science from Concordia University. She is also a level 1 Precision Nutrition Coach, a Full Body Certified Active Release Technique, and Graston technique Provider.

ACUPUNCTURIST
LIYA SANDBERG, L.AC, M.AC
Liya is certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and licensed with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN.
While at Northwestern, Liya interned at many different clinic sites where she gained experience in treating a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to anxiety and stress, digestive issues, headaches and migraines, menstrual issues, musculoskeletal pain, and injuries, and insomnia and sleep disturbances.
Liya was born in China and raised in Minnetonka, MN. Her diverse background and caring nature are what led to her interest in healthcare. After experiencing first-hand the benefits of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Liya fell in love with the medicine. She loved the holistic approach to healing and promoting the body's natural healing abilities. Liya is a very compassionate and warm-hearted practitioner who takes the time to listen to her patients and address all of their concerns and questions to provide the best possible care for them.
In her free time, Liya enjoys staying active and being outdoors. In her past, she has trained for and ran two half marathons. She also enjoys relaxing with a good book, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family.

Licensed Masseuse
Allison Gerstner
Allison is a massage therapist licensed in the city of St. Louis Park. She graduated with a Certificate in Therapeutic Massage from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. She also took the courses and exam to be certified as a NeuroMuscular Therapist through the NeuroMuscular Training Center.
Allison was born and raised in Bloomington, MN. She always wanted to go into a health-care profession as a child and decided working with her hands was a great way to start. Allison is determined to do the best she can to help others with her skills and knowledge and believes massage should always be a good experience for the client and works hard to make it a reality. She believes a good massage therapist listens to their client’s concerns to create the best session to help them reach their goals. Whether that be to relax and unwind or help manage any aches or discomfort caused by soft tissue dysfunction in muscles, tendons, or ligaments.
Allison loves to stay busy in her time outside of work at Excelsior and Grand Chiropractic. In addition to working as a massage therapist, she also works part-time at a pet store as she loves animals and thinks it provides the right balance of jobs to keep gaining experience. She often rotates between hobbies such as crocheting, painting, and sculpting. She loves spending time with her friends and family and finding out more about whatever topic currently has her interest.

Micaela Hoeppner
Micaela Hoeppner, originally from La Crosse, WI, is an experienced Chiropractic Assistant at Excelsior and Grand Chiropractic, and we are so lucky to have her on our team!
With four years of valuable experience in the field, Micaela has developed a comprehensive understanding of chiropractic care and is sure to help make your experience one of a kind.
You'll find Micaela at the front desk of Excelsior and Grand Chiropractic, ready to answer any questions and assist you with your scheduling and billing needs.
Outside work, Micaela enjoys reading, golfing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
